MEDICAL ASSISTANT

The purpose of the medical assistant is to train students to acquire multiple skills necessary for successful employment in any capacities of this discipline at any and all health care facilities. Medical Assistant may also obtain employment as: Phlebotomy Technician, EKG technician, and patient care technician.
During the course of study the Clinical Medical Assistant is trained to perform many duties such as assistant with physical examinations, medical procedures and treatments; obtaining patients histories, and vitals sings; recognizing and responding to emergencies; preparing and administering medication and immunization; collecting and processing of specimens; vein punctures performing diagnostic test such as EKG’S; screening and following up with patient test results; adhering to establish triage procedures; applying principles of aseptic technique and infection control; coordinating patient care information with other health providers ; administrative duties; and processing medical billing and medical claims.
The length of the program is 24 weeks, a total of 600 hours spent in classroom, and 140 to be completed at an internship/externship site. Classes will be held during the day and evening.
Applicants to take certification exam for National Certification with National Center for Competency Testing.
CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT

The Certified Nursing Assistant is designed to prepare students to function in the traditional nursing assistant roles in nursing centers, hospital, and home care agencies.

The Certified Nursing Assistant program offered by AMG is in line with its mission “to improve the quality of life of all students through educational and occupational training in a community that fosters life long learning”. The length of the program is 4 weeks, a total 90 hours.
Students are provided with practical experience in the surrounding nursing homes.
No High School diploma is necessary.
PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN (P.T.C)

ELECTROCARDIOGRAM TECHNICIAN

The purpose of the Electrocardiogram technician is to train students to acquire skills necessary for successful employment in any capacities of this discipline at any and all health facilities. The electrocardiogram represent the reading of electrical activity of the heart. Today the EKG machine remains one of the single most important tools in medicine used for diagnosis. The medical profession currently uses the abbreviation ( EKG or ECG) when referring to electrocardiogram.
This course will focus on teaching students the most important procedure and interpretation of a 12 lead EKG. Mastering the reading of frequently encountered normal and abnormal heart rhythms, cardiac emergencies, diagnosis test, and the ability to learn about cardiac diseases and medications. Students will be provided with the adequate knowledge needed, both theory and practical to succeed in this complex field.
Applicants are required to have high school diploma or its equivalent, upon successful completion of this courses, graduates will be able to take certification exam for National Certification with National Center for Competency Testing.
HOME HEALTH AIDE

Home Health Aides or homemakers ‘ care for clients who are recovering from illness, those with terminal illness, or children and adults with physical and mental disabilities in the clients’ home settings.
This courses is designed to prepare students with the necessary skill needed to function as a Home Health Aide in the home care setting. The Home Health Aides must perform a variety of task for their patients, performing basic grooming and personal maintenance task and assisting with artificial limbs and appendages.
The Home Health Aide is expected to look and act professional, be reliable, compassionate, cheerful, and must enjoy working with people. It it essential that the aide be able to work independently with little direct supervision. The home health may require lifting, carrying, bending and reaching.
The length of the program is 76 hours. Upon successful completion of the program students become eligible to receive certification from New Jersey board Nursing.
No High School diploma is necessary.
PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN

The purpose of the Phlebotomy Technician is to train students to acquire skills necessary for successful employment in any capacities of this discipline at any and all health care facilities. The Phlebotomy is a valuable member of the health care team responsible for the collection, processing, and transport of blood specimen to the laboratory. Today Phlebotomy is a necessary aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Currently role of the Phlebotomy is to obtain blood specimen either by venipunctures (puncturing the vein) or dermal puncture (puncturing the skin).
Another role of the Phlebotomy is to remove blood from donors for blood transfusions. Students are train to demonstrate professional attire, attitude, and communications, properly identify patient, collect both venous and capillary blood specimens.
Select the appropriate and accurate specimen container for the specific test, properly , handle and transport and transport specimen following department policies, short specimens received and process specimen for delivery to laboratory department, perform point to care testing and quality control check and observe safety regulations.
The length of the program is a total of 205 hours, 125 hours spent in classroom, 80 hours to be completed at an internship/externship site.
Applicants are required to have high school diploma or GED. Upon successful completion of the course, graduate will be able to take certification exam for National Certification with National Center Competency Testing.
CERTIFIED MEDICATION AIDE

The (CMA) Program will train unlicensed C.N.A or HHA, to function in assisted Living with administration of medicament aiding resident with the administration of oral, installation, topical, installation routes medication under the direct supervision of licensed personnel in the State of New Jersey. The unlicensed must be a current NJ Certified Nurse Aide or Certified Home Health Aide in good standing with New Jersey Board of Nursing and the NJDHSS Upon successful completion of the program students are eligible to sit for New Jersey Examination.
The length of the programs is 40 hours of classroom training and three medication pass at an assisted Living Community. The program will consist of three parts: Part one will consist of a total of 30 hours, which will be divided between the registered Nurse and the registered pharmacist. (22 hours allocated to the Registered Nurse and 6 hours allocated to the Resident Pharmacist). Part two will consist in 10 hours and three days for medication pass.
Upon successful completion of the program students are eligible to sit for the New Jersey Examination.
MEDICAL BILLING

The Medical Biller Program instructs students in the skills areas needed to became efficient in billing, insurance and office procedures. During the course of study Medical Biller are trained in the following areas: billing & collection, medical billing software (medi-soft), record management, patient data collection, typing written correspondence, telephone techniques and benefits calculation necessary to adjudicate claims for employee benefits plans.
The length of the program is 20 weeks a total of 400 hours. 300 hours spent in classroom and 100 as internship/externship site.
